FLORIDA NEW CONSTRUCTION
Buying "Quick Move-in" vs. Pre-Construction
A brand new home is great — no one's lived in it — and buyers can move in sooner by choosing a "quick move-in" vs. a pre-construction... But the timeline for any new construction is not always exact.
If you are building from scratch, the whole process from selecting a homesite, floor plan, meeting with the builder's design team to choose features, options, upgrades, finishes, etc. upto completing the build can last from 9 months to 12 months. Issues like bad weather, shortage of materials, etc. can also delay the process.
On the other hand, quick move-in homes have shorter wait times.
Quick move-in homes are classified as either "under construction" or "move-in ready."
| UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The homesite and details such as interior and exterior features, finishes, etc. have already been decided by the builder. The home is currently being built and is within 2 to 4 months of completion. In some cases, you might still be able to choose some options if it is in the early stages of construction.
| MOVE-IN READY
Builders use various terms in their marketing. If the builder promotes a home as "move-in ready," construction is already completed.
New construction homes are filling the shortage of existing homes for sale.
Many people who choose a quick move-in have sold their previous home and need to move ASAP, first-time buyers, or are relocating.
This is the best option for those who want a brand new home but don't have the time or don't want to go through all the items offered by the builder — true enough, going over all the choices can be overwhelming.
Quick move-in homes are also higher in price because builders usually include premium features in their design.
